Community Relations

Mission Statement

To make a positive contribution to the communities we live and work in by promoting MSC's unique culture of teamwork, delivering positive results, sharing and diversity; contributing to MSC's overall mission to be the best industrial distributor as measured by our associates, customers, owners and suppliers.

Our Team

MSC's Community Relations department operates out of our Customer Support Center (CSC) in Melville, New York and is responsible for all of the community activities and charitable sponsorships on behalf of the company. Associates are also able to volunteer their time to participate on teams that help to further MSC's Corporate Citizenship efforts. The Community Relations Team is a cross-functional group of Associates who represent the many functional areas within the CSC. This group of Associates participates on the team in addition to their functional job responsibilities at MSC Industrial Supply. The team rotates annually, giving all of our Associates the opportunity to participate. Additionally, Regional Community Outreach Teams operate out of our Customer Fulfillment Centers. The Community Outreach Teams work in conjunction with the CSC Community Relations department to oversee Community Relations events in our Customer Fulfillment Centers.

These Teams carry on the tradition of giving and corporate social responsibility established by our founder, Sidney Jacobson; a tradition that was further expanded upon by his son, Mitchell Jacobson, Chairman of MSC's Board of Directors. The Jacobson Family has been long known for their philanthropy and genuine concern for others in our communities. MSC Industrial Supply is proud to continue Sid's legacy by partnering with non-profit organizations and supporting our communities at large.

Community Relations focuses on two programs throughout the year. The Community Outreach Program oversees all external community activities. The MSC Spirit Program encompasses activities for our internal Associate community, with a focus on Associate morale and promoting the MSC Industrial Supply culture.

Community Relations reviews and approves all proposals for charitable sponsorships while executing the company's long-term vision of Corporate Social Responsibility.
