ANDREA HOWARD: Hello and welcome to Quick Tips from MSC Industrial Supply, a show where we invite the manufacturing community to share their expertise with us. When we think about PPE, we usually focus on safety. Makes sense right? But, what if the right PPE program could do more than just prevent injuries? What if it can also reduce cost and even boost revenue?
Our friends at MCR Safety have developed their 360 Protection Program to do just that, taking a data-driven approach to workplace safety. Let's take a look.
NARRATOR: Every year, U.S. companies lose over $167 billion to workplace injuries. PPE is not just about protection, it's about cost reduction, operational efficiency and revenue growth. MCR Safety's 360 protection program isn't just about selling PPE. It's a strategic business tool that keeps the industrial workforce safe, lowers costs, and increases company revenue. How does it work? We take a data-driven approach to workplace safety through a proven five-step process designed to reduce costs, improve safety and boost revenue.
Why should this matter to the bottom line? The 360 Protection Program, in addition to adding an extra layer of safety, is also a direct revenue multiplier. Customers who use 360 assessments stay with MCR longer, increasing lifetime revenue. Assessments reveal safety gaps, leading to upselling higher-margin products. By selecting a focus area inside the 360 tool, the system prompts users with the exact questions to ask when making an assessment.
These questions help the system determine the task at hand with potential hazards, as well as where current PPE and use may be falling short. The 360 tool system also helps automate adding recommended products. By inputting the product number, the 360 tool automatically pulls images and info, saving time for reps in the field. After adding a recommended product, users can click the Product Cost Analysis button and input the current details pertaining to the product and use.
The cost calculator will determine the cost per hour a client is spending on a certain product in real time. The 360 tool allows users to input the recommended product suggested, as well as results from product testing. This will generate cost savings per hour by employee. Another method the 360 tool shows cost savings is from injury reduction. Inputting the injury type, frequency and cost associated, customers are given a total and average cost per incident.
By comparing these numbers with the results from wear trials, we can provide projected savings due to decrease in future workplace injuries. MCR Safety achieved $9.2 million in documented cost savings for over 700 360 site visits completed in 2024. This program doesn't just reduce injuries, it creates a competitive moat, boosts distributor sales, and locks in long-term customer relationships. 360 is our differentiator, ensuring MCR remains the number one trusted PPE partner.
Let's not just sell PPE. Let's build a strategy that grows our business.
