A machinist called our Metalworking Tech Team earlier and had a relatively easy problem to solve for. He was cutting pockets into aluminum billet. The aluminum was sticking to the cutting edge and to the chipping tool when removing the stuck material.
Our Metalworking Tech Team asked the machinist was tool he was using to find out he was using a 5/8 diameter carbide uncoated endmill.
Our guys recommended using an endmill with zirconium coating to prevent materials sticking to the cutting edge.
