BACKGROUND

This company is a global, science-led biopharmaceutical business, with multiple plants in North America. Their innovative medicines are used by millions of patients worldwide. They asked Ansell to help with standardizing their PPE, to check the efficiency of their current PPE against the chemicals they were using and to help prevent cut injuries.

AnsellGUARDIAN® SOLUTIONS

AnsellGUARDIAN® was used in every department from R&D to quality control. This also included maintenance facilities, all the way through to their clean and sterile applications. The company supplied a list of the chemicals they used in addition to the number and type of injuries incurred, which streamlined the process. The hazards causing hand injuries were quickly identified and attention was drawn to other safety issues they weren’t aware of. These problems were then rectified before they had a chance to become bigger.

The company chose the Nitrilite™ 93-401 for clean room as well as TouchNTuff® 73-500 for their sterile applications. They also chose the HyFlex® 11-318 as an under glove to protect against cut injuries.

RESULTS

The use of AnsellGUARDIAN® resulted in the reduction in SKUs from 16 different glove types to two along with a significant decrease in cut injuries that led to approximately $50,000 of savings annually. There are plans in place to expand AnsellGUARDIAN® solutions to all the sites in North America.
