ENERGY AND EMISSIONS

In Ansell's Bangkok manufacturing facility, they are generating thermal energy with biomass, using wood chips to create heat. This has reduced their consumption of natural gas resulting in the reduction of 40,000 MTCO2e from their greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory. A portion of the electricity used in Ansell Bangkok is also generated by their advanced and ever-expanding solar photovoltaic installations, reducing electricity costs and GHG emissions.

WASTE MINIMIZATION

Zero Waste to Landfill is part of a comprehensive strategy to review existing practices and limit waste generation directly at its source, while enhancing operational efficiency and implementing end-of-life solutions for materials and inputs. Ansell's Bangkok manufacturing facility is a certified Zero Waste to Landfill facility, in line with Intertek’s Zero Waste to Landfill framework which looks at above 99% diversion.

WATER

Wastewater at the Bangkok manufacturing facility is pre-treated in Ansell's effluent treatment plant before being fed into the newly installed Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant. Here, treated water is drawn under pressure through semipermeable membranes and the concentrate (waste) stream is processed again as part of the multi-stage system to remove contaminants and increase the amount of water recovered for re-use. This project contributes towards the achievement of Ansell’s water stewardship commitments.

PACKAGING

Ansell's dispensers and cartons are made with at least 70% recycled paperboard. They have sourced packaging that includes recycled paperboard content as part of their ongoing commitment to sustainability. Their dispensers and cartons are recyclable. They do not include any additional packaging components and they avoid printed Instructions for Use (IFUs) whenever possible.
