Hi, my name is John Gregoire. I'm a technical trainer at Norton and today we're going to cover how to mount a depressed center wheel on a right angle grinder. Our first thing you want to do is check the depressed center wheel to make sure there's no damage to it. And also check the max. RPM. You want to make sure that the max. RPM on the grinding wheel is higher than the max. RPM on the right angle grinder. If the max. RPM on the right angle grinder is higher, the wheel could break.
Depressed center wheels come with two different attachment systems – a straight hole and a mounted hub. First we'll go over the straight hole. So what you'll need are two flanges. You have a back flange that goes on the grinder first. The wheel will sit on the back flange and you have a nut that you screw down. Once that's hand tight you hold the lock on the grinder and you tighten it with your spanner wrench. So next I'll show you how to mount depressed center wheels with an attached top. You just screw this on, put the lock on the machine, and tighten.
