Optimized Solid Round Tools

Whether machining carbon, glass or aramid fibers, we understand the complex machining processes you face when working with composites.

Considering Composites

Compared to metals, composites break less predictably due to the greater number of variables that dictate how the composite will respond.

Variables include:

  • Fiber type
  • Resin type
  • Fiber orientation
  • Composite thickness
  • Matrix hardness
  • Heat sensitivity

Low Helix Router

Low Helix Router

Specifically designed for smooth and burr-free finishing passes, these cutters have a lot of teeth and are made to go fast. The right and left helix options allow for flexibility in material with challenging support conditions. Cutting conditions can be both dry or with coolant and when geometry is a 5-degree helix angle.

Benefits and Features

  • The low angle prevents lifting of the material
  • Multi-flutes provide excellent finishing
  • Use CoroChuck 930 for excellent toolholding results
  • Designed for short time in cut
  • High number of flutes allows faster cutting speeds
  • Grade 012M (diamond coating)
Shop Serrated Router

Serrated Router

The large flute form allows for high material removal, and the patented geometry has dual cutting action to reduce delamination and vibration. The geometry is designed for a single-pass solution in trimming or full depth of cut in carbon fiber.

Benefits and Features

  • Good solution for large hole interpolation of >0.500”
  • Large flute form allows very high material removal
  • Dual cutting action that keeps the material in a very stable condition
  • Minimal lifting or down cutting
  • Use CoroChuck 930 for excellent toolholding results
  • Grade 012M (diamond coating)
Shop Compression Router

Compression Router

This dual helix router works best with special woven glass layers on both sides of the component. With an overlap between compressed flutes, it machines well in thinner materials by reducing material vibrations.

Benefits and Features

  • The optimized flute design works best in flat components
  • Works well in a low-resin top and bottom layer material
  • Will keep the material extremely stable with neutral cutting action
  • Does not allow for flute management, can-not be oscillated in cut
  • Clean cutting action of both top and bottom with an up-and-down shear cutting action
  • Use CoroChuck 930 for excellent toolholding results
  • Grade 010M (diamond coating)

CoroDrill Composite Solutions
