ISCAR’S new Multi-Master solid carbide Face Milling (FM) heads and T-FACE milling heads are designed for face milling and 1-pass shoulder milling in narrow and confined areas.

ISCAR’S new Multi-Master solid carbide Face Milling (FM) heads and T-FACE milling heads are designed for face milling and 1-pass shoulder milling in narrow and confined areas, as well as on small milling machines or mill-turn machine tools.

Both systems combine precision and ease of use.  ISCAR’s Multi-Master can be viewed as a quick-change connection that ensures head-to-head repeatability of ± 0.0008” tolerance when used with precision ground solid carbide heads.  The Multi-Master system is known for saving time on indexing, maximizing machine uptime, and reducing errors due to eliminating the need for tool length offset procedures.  The T-FACE line shares the aforementioned benefits of saving time and error proofing, while gaining its ease of use and accuracy via a unique spline (SP) connection which makes head-to-head replacements quick and accurate.

Both Multi-Master FM heads and T-Face heads can be further enhanced by using them with Iscar’s ER type integral shank offerings for Multi-Master and Spline (SP) connections.  These ER integral collets will create a short overhand for added stability, which will in turn enhance surface finish and tool life.

Machine shops typically discover that these tool options are less expensive when compared to solid carbide end mills, especially in high-production environments.

MM FM milling heads are available in five diameters, 0.394” to 0.984”, featuring 6 flutes and 0.141” to 0.295” maximum milling depths.

T-FACE milling heads are available in three diameters, 1.25”, 1.50”, and 2.0”, featuring 8-12 flutes and 0.312” to 0.468” maximum milling depths.

What to look for:  Machine shops milling part features in confined spaces looking to maximize metal removal with an easy to use, easy to index system.  MM and T-Face heads index so precisely, time associated with tool position confirmation is avoided when indexing the insert.

More on Milling

With more powerful milling tools available today than ever before, the big question facing machinists is how best to combine them to increase productivity, reduce cycle times, and improve tool life and surface finish.

There’s more to choosing the best end mill than its price tag and availability.

Climb milling is the most common method of milling a part whether it's the surface or periphery of a part. Climb milling as the name would indicate attempts to pull itself through the cut.
