Andrea: Hi there and welcome to Quick Tips from MSC Industrial Supply, a show where we invite the community to share their expertise with us. Today we have a tip from Vestil on an ergonomic product solution that can help you lift goods safer and more efficiently. Let's check it out.
Narrator: Ergonomics is an applied science, concerned with designing and arranging things people use so that the people and things interact most efficiently and safely. Throughout the day, an employee can lift, bend, twist and reach repetitively while performing a job task.
If the task is not done with proper ergonomics, then the employee may suffer injury, resulting in lost time on the job and lost money for the employer. OSHA has cited ergonomic injuries have direct cost to employers between $15 and $20 billion per year.
The proper use of ergonomics in a company's business plan will result in improved employee job efficiency, while lowering the potential risk of injury from repetitive bending, twisting and reaching motions. Portable scissor carts are designed to place loads in a more comfortable and ergonomically correct position for the operator. This type of product solution is a great replacement for traditional platform trucks by providing an added ergonomic benefit.
Operators use the two-button hand control to raise and lower the platform to the most comfortable and ergonomically correct position to handle those heavy and dangerous loads. The platform includes a standard four-sided electric pinch-point toe guard to protect operators during the lowering cycle. The platform will automatically stop if the guide if the toe rail is compressed during descent.
